KIKI Health Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder is exclusively grown in the ancient city of Kyoto in Japan. Japanese tea culture was developed in Kyoto and used for nearly a millennium in tea ceremonies.

Grown and produced close to the river in fertile rich soil, using traditional techniques to grow the highest grade Matcha possible. Only the first young, most tender leaves are picked in each spring harvest. They are shadow grown – avoiding direct sunlight, which stimulates chlorophyll growth. They are then milled into a fine powder to create an ultra-fine, vibrant green powder.

Thanks to the special conditions and growing techniques, KIKI Health’s Matcha is smooth and mellow, with a subtle and noble aroma. Did you know: L-theanine is an amino acid that is found naturally in tea leaves, particularly in green and black tea. It has been found to have a calming effect on the mind and body, making it an effective supplement for reducing stress and anxiety.

Matcha contains up to five times as much L-theanine as regular green tea (20 mg versus 4 mg), due largely to these shadow-grown techniques traditional Japanese farmers discovered and developed centuries ago.

L-theanine works by increasing the production of the neurotransmitters GABA and dopamine in the brain. These neurotransmitters are responsible for regulating mood and emotions, and low levels have been associated with depression and anxiety. L-theanine also helps to reduce the levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which can contribute to feelings of anxiety and depression.

Add 1/2 – 1 teaspoon to a bowl or mug.

Add 100ml cooled, cold or iced water, whisk vigorously until frothy.

For a creamy latte: Replace some or all of the water with almond or coconut milk. Add a touch of organic cacao powder for a slightly sweeter drink ( a must try for coffee lovers).

Try adding to desserts, smoothies and yoghurts.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
