Homemade Maltesers

• Level: Easy
• Time: 15 minutes
• Makes: 6 servings

If you enjoyed the chocolate-coated malted milk balls when you were younger, then you will want to bookmark this tab.  While traditional recipes usually contain sweetened condensed milk, meringues or icing sugar, this recipe boasts health-giving fats from OSSA® organic ghee, almond flour, and peanut butter. Stir through maca powder, a nutrient-dense ancient whole-food, to lend a subtle nutty flavour and provide the perfect malty finish to your dessert treat.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup of crunchy cereal like rice crispies
1/4 cup almond flour
1/2 tsp maca powder*
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp OSSA® ghee
1 tbsp runny peanut butter
2 tbsp maple syrup
Approx. 100g your favourite dark chocolate

Method:

Step 1: Blend the cereal and almond flour until fine but be sure not to over blitz (short pulses in a processor is best). Alternatively, smash it with a rolling pin.

Step 2: Add baking soda and maca, mix well. Now add the wet ingredients and roll into tightly formed balls.

Step 3: Bake for approx. 8 mins at 180c in a preheated oven. Leave to cool on a cooling rack so they harden. Dip in chocolate and set in the freezer for at least an hour.

Enjoy!
